What Mentally Strong People Don't Do

The Week Of the Mental Diet – Week 7

This week we focused on the 7 Day Mental Diet by Emmet Fox.

The Seven Day Mental Diet

The Seven Day Mental Diet By Emmet Fox

As a personal trainer, health/wellness/life/lifestyle coach, I have worked on many nutrition plans, and I have inspired and encouraged many in thirty plus years.  I would even say, in a very care take y way, I may have even attempted to motivate those who could not motivate themselves to pursue a plan put in place to bring about specific results in their lives.  Participating in the 7 Day Mental Diet has been a world wind of fun and engagement unlike anything I have ever known or participated in.  Having the discipline to be positive in ALL THINGS, yes, ALL THINGS has taken this gal to a completely different level of being the optimist!  If you are looking for something and can only commit to one thing for seven days, I am not going to beg you, yet I will encourage you to do the Seven Day Mental Diet.  Oh and yes you can restart and still have success!  I’m not giving you a way out, I’m giving you a way in! Cheers!

Patterns of Thought, Patterns of Behavior . . . Week 6

Judgement . . . All my life I have wanted to ‘be’ without judgements and assumptions from others.  I have gone out of my way when I meet someone to be present with them with no judgement or assumptions because I desperately wanted them to get to know me for me.  Well, it hit me, and it was bigger than a 2×4.  Actually it was more like a 25 pound medicine ball to my lower abdomen.  It was me judging me!!! Dog gone it! (Sorry Leo!)

In our reading of Scroll II of The Greatest Salesman in the World, by Og Mandino, “I will greet this day with love in my heart.”, I found a wonderful freedom of being with people just where they are ‘with love in my heart’.  And yes, being with me with love in my heart.  I don’t want to say I quit caring about their judgements and assumptions and my judgements and assessments of myself, yet I think I did.  It didn’t matter anymore.  Maybe my spin out from last week actually spun something in me.  So many things don’t matter anymore. Don’t worry I’m not giving up on humanity.  I think I am just choosing to root for myself for a change.  As I’m writing this, I am recalling a movie with Diana Ross entitled Mahogany.  The theme song was “Do You Know Where You’re Going To?”.  For the first time in a long time I Do!  Leo will be writing the book so watch for the upcoming press release.  In the meantime, listen to the words during this video and answer the question for yourself.  Note, not answering the question, is answering the question.  Just Say’in!

Personal Action – Overcoming Fear To Act – Week 3

Fuzzy Looking Eaglets

Fuzzy Looking Eaglets

Personal Development, Personal Development, Personal Development!!! Enough Already!  What is Personal Development without Personal Action? For the last five years I have focussed on Personal Development after a marriage that ended in a very public adultery.  I did not go through therapy, drink or do drugs. Please know there is no judgement here.  It just wasn’t my choice.  I did throw myself into Personal Development though, and as I participate in the Master Key System I now wonder, was I sold on a lie?  The lie that Personal Development would have me become the person God intended me to become?  Why do I ask?  Well, I feel like I cut school one day and missed the lecture on Personal Action.  Oh, and don’t forget about fear.  Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh do I hate fear!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I think you get the point!  So I believe the point of my post is take Personal Action.  In taking Personal Action (accountability really is a wonderful empowering thing!), you don’t have time to worry or think about fear (Yay!!!!), and follow-up with the Personal Development of the skill you took Personal Action on so you get better at getting what you want.  Ok, rant over. Sleep Well, Be Well, ACT WELL!

Note: Eaglets may be cute and fuzzy, but when it’s time for them to fly, their mother does not give them a book on personal development.  She knocks them out of the nest so they learn how to fly.  Have someone knock you out of your nest and take ACTION!

In my last post I referred to Personal Development and it’s importance in Network Marketing. Since football season is about to start (Go Steelers!), I use an analogy here.  First of all, you have a Coach and the Players.   Additional staff and assistant coaches participate by making sure the coach and the players can focus on one thing: WINNING!  NOTHING, NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.  The most successful teams had great coaches who developed a great team.  They had the best relationships and the greatest respect for each other and their coach.
Why is this important?  As you are networking with others they will be looking to you for direction on what to do and how to do it.  How you show up in this environment is very different than your current day-to-day.  For example, as corporate and fitness professionals (others as well), are you followed because of your credentials and who you are (i.e. the boss)?  Let’s personalize the same question.  As a parent, sibling, or friend, are you followed because of your role in that circle, or because of how you show up?  Please don’t hear this as good or bad.  In the Profession of Network Marketing, title and credentials may get people’s attention, but it probably won’t keep it.
What do you do?  How do you begin?  Start with those you respect because of how they showed up.  What are the qualities and characteristics that you want to model? Listen as others talk about these individuals.  Why are they attracted to them?  Next, get clear on you and who you are choosing to become.  Notice I said ‘choosing’. Using myself as the example, growing up I knew by age nine I was going to college, getting a job in Corporate America, getting married and having kids.  Now don’t laugh, but when I was in high school, I realized how much I enjoyed travel and the outdoors.  I thought about backpacking across Europe. Well, that wasn’t an option since Charles Manson was up for parole.  Then I though I would drive a truck. Dad put a stop to that idea by sharing with me that truck drivers were not the healthiest because they bounced around in their cabs all day.  My last thought was to become a farmer.  There was family land in the Carolina’s so that would be easy.  Of course my mother shared how bad farmer’s hands looked and that it was out of the question.  My point here is if you think in your heart of heart’s what you REALLY enjoy you may find that you aren’t doing.   Participating in network marketing would provide you this opportunity without a huge up front investment.  Others will be attracted to you because you stepped out and chose to create a change in your life.  You chose to become much more than any title both personally and professionally.
I share another resource for you from Jim Rohn, THE FIVE MAJOR PIECES TO THE LIFE PUZZLE.  Here Mr. Rohn shares details about 1) having a personal philosophy, 2) the importance of a good attitude, 3) the importance of activity (action), 4) the importance of results, and 5) choosing and designing your lifestyle.  You can download a pdf of this wonderful book by  CLICKING HERE  at a discounted cost as the VALUE of this book is priceless!  Another network marketer shared it with me and I now share it with you.  It is the very book I reference with those who are participating with me in my CHANGE YOUR LIFE IN 90 DAYS PROGRAM.  Details on that tomorrow, with a ‘shout out and thank you’ to Mark Harbert.
